For me making art, creating, is experimenting, play, and improvisation.
My work is all hand built. Some pieces are figurative, focusing on the human face, birds (particularly crows), vines, ferns, trees, and fish. Some of my work explores the form of the vessel (nesting pinch pots, and holey pieces that play with light and shadows). My photographic image transfers incorporate photographs that I have taken, and old family photographs. I work with stoneware or porcelain, fired to Cone 6 or 7 in an electric kiln. I often use underglazes, mason stains, iron oxide, and sculptural glazes in layers to create rich textured surfaces.
